A place with history
Kirn is a small town in the Hunsrück region whose history is deeply tied to German leatherworking. Generations of fine leather craftsmen have worked here with a steady hand and a clear eye for what matters. The region was once one of the centers of German leather goods production - today, our partner manufactory is among the last small workshops where this craft is still very much alive.
Every single LUCA case is made in this manufactory. From cutting the leather to the final stitch, from sharpening the edges to the final inspection: every step happens here, by hand, on site. What ends up in the black LUCA box has gone through more than 120 work steps - and the hands of people who have practiced their craft for years, sometimes decades.

It takes more than 120 work steps to finish a LUCA case for a smartphone. It starts with the quality of the materials and the careful selection of the leather, and ends with the careful packaging of our cases. This is how tailor-made, first-class smartphone cases and wallets with authentic character are created.
1 case: 120 work steps
High-quality leather, together with selected nylon and microfiber, forms the basis of our iPhone case. We apply the highest standards when selecting materials. Six pieces of leather are punched out for one LUCA case. The inner lining consists of another 21 parts. Before being processed into a smartphone case, the leather is split to the desired thickness. For the card slots, the leather is reinforced and embossed. The leather edges are then sharpened.
The result: a refined, one-of-a-kind piece
Four phases, one case
1. Material preparation
High-quality leather, together with selected nylon and microfiber, forms the basis. Several leather parts are punched out, and the inner lining consists of another 21 parts. The leather is split to the desired thickness, reinforced and embossed for the card slots. The edges are sharpened.
2. Assembly
The parts are glued together in eleven steps. Another 13 work steps are needed to fold the cut pieces — this is where the inner structure forms that gives every LUCA case its shape and long-lasting durability.
3. Stitching
Sixteen work steps alone go into sewing and trimming the leather parts. Even the seams reveal what careful handwork looks like: stitches that hold - even, precise, durable.
4. Finishing
Finally, the inside is coated, cleaned and trimmed. The edges are folded - that is, wrapped around the edge of the backing piece and fixed on the reverse side. Only after the final inspection does the case go into the black LUCA box.

What materials does LUCA use?
We use only leather from traditional European tanneries - and state the origin of every material. For our wallets, we work mainly with Italian nubuck leather from a family-run traditional tannery in Veneto, as well as vegetable-tanned leather. Fittings and the money clip are made of stainless steel with a gunmetal finish.
